Clam Chowder Calories

My nutritionist has delved deeply into the chemistry of food, and come out the other side with the understanding that the modern low-fat diet is the cause of the American heart disease/cancer/diabetes epidemic.

The soup and salad recipes I am sharing are wonderful and very simple to prepare. The clam chowder was an absolute favorite at our dinner. I have been making this recipe for years and my family loves it. My friend made a double recipe and all but one serving was eaten. We had four varieties of soup for twenty-one men and women, two large green salads, two kinds of bread, and cream puffs for dessert. The salad recipe is not one I shared on this particular evening, but it is one of our favorites.

In today's fast-paced entire world it is difficult for anybody to eat wholesome, it seems like no one has the time to sit down and eat a great, nutritious meal. Water is by far the best option, but you can also have it flavored with a little fresh lemon or lime juice. Not only is it low calorie, but it will also help refresh your palette between courses.

Soups are an excellent way to satisfy your hunger without consuming too many calories. Having a bowl of soup before meals may even help you eat less, because it increases fullness. In fact, non-cream based soups are often given the 'all-you-can-eat' green light in many weight loss programs. Let's face it - eating a bunch of vegetables floating around in a clear-flavored liquid will not put a dent in your diet.

Chew a piece of gum. Researchers recently discovered that chewing sugar-free gum all day increases your metabolic rate by about 20 percent. It speeds up the digestive system, burns more calories, and sometimes stops a craving. This method alone could help to burn off more than 10 pounds a year.

A few things you need in eat in moderation on a salad, if at all, include nuts, seeds, and olives, which are all high in fat. Also watch out for bacon bits; no way is bacon low calorie or low fat. And also anything with mayonnaise in it, like egg salad, tuna salad, chicken salad, and the like. And anything marinated in oil, like mushrooms are also no nos.
